Reservations & Buyouts – Let’s Party (But Read This First)

Thinking of bringing your crew down to The Boxcar? We love a good party—but here’s the lowdown so we’re all on the same page:

Big Groups (15–60 People)

Your best booking slots are 4:00 PM, 7:30 PM, or 11:00 PM on weekends.
We can sometimes squeeze you in outside those times, but keep in mind our bar holds 60 standing max, and we stay open to the public. We’d rather not play reservation roulette—we’ve got bills to pay and drinks to pour.

We’re also happy to open early for large groups, so if you’ve got a special time in mind, let us know!

• Please ensure your party arrives on time; most bookings are allocated a 3-hour reservation.

• This is a reservation (we’re open to the public) versus a buyout (private event with a $1,000 deposit).

Adults Only

We’re a Liquor Primary establishment—19+ only. No babies, no toddlers, no preteens with fake IDs. Leave the kiddos at home and come let loose properly.

Private Buyouts

Want the whole damn place to yourself? We can make that happen. We’ve hosted sports viewings, day parties, and even a funeral once (long story).

Our neighbours at Mortadella Pizzaria make the kind of pizza that brings grown adults to tears—Top 5 in Vancouver every year since they opened. For private buyouts, we can arrange catering too—because booze without food is a rookie move.

Large Party Reservation Deposit Policy​

A pre-authorization of $10 per guest will be charged to any party that cancels within 14 days of booking for any booking of 25 people or greater.  As you can imagine, holding space for a large group prevents us from accepting other reservations and requires significant planning and staffing. Our team relies on large party bookings—most of which are arranged months in advance—and last-minute cancellations can seriously impact our operations, especially in our cozy, limited-capacity room.
We appreciate your understanding and commitment in helping us keep things running smoothly.
